Fans dig deep for Mitchell

-

Fans dug deep on Friday night as a collection took place to help Monarchs club asset Mitchell Davey following his accident at Birmingham earlier this month.

Both sets of fans in attendance for the Edinburgh versus Glasgow clash were generous in their donations with a total of £1432.08 being raised.

On being told of the collection total, Davey told the Monarchs’official website:“Wow, that’s incredible. As soon as I am able, I’ll be there in person to say thanks. At the moment recovery is going well, but slowly.”

The club would like to thank all those who contributed, as well as Ed the Monarch and his helpers for uplifting the collection.

Davey was placed in intensive care after being one of four riders involved in a nasty crash during Birmingham’s National League Knockout Cup match against the Mildenhall Fen Tigers.

Mildenhall’s Josh Bailey lost control of his machine before clashing with Callum Walker, Sam Bebee and Davey, who sustained a punctured lung and chipped several verterbrae as well as breaking a shoulder blade and 12 ribs.

Other clubs have got involved in the fundraising efforts for the Australian ace, with Swindon having organised a 72-mile walk - the distance between the Robins’Abbey Stadium home and Birmingham’s Perry Bar Stadium.
