Canal centre open School given £5000 funding boost

Linlithgow Canal Centre will be open Saturdays and Sundays through to September 30.

The opening hours are 1pm to 4.30pm.

Westfield Primary School were granted the funding by aqua food company Ewos for a new sound and screen system in the school hall. Tania Burns, chair of the parent council, approached the company asking if they were able to help with project. Marnie Ferguson, acting depute head teacher at Westfield Primary School, said the new sound and screen system would have a positive effect on the children’s education.

She said:“Our parent council chair wrote to Ewos explaining that they were fundraisin­g to put a new sound and screen system into the school hall, and asked if they would be able to contribute. Ewos, in return, quickly offered to fund the entire project. As a result, we now have a wonderful new screen in the hall that has been put to good use already with showcase assemblies and a musical performanc­e by the upper class, primary five, six and seven.

“The school are extremely grateful to the parent council for coordinati­ng this and to Ewos for supplying the funds, as this will have such a positive effect on the education of the children.”
