Liam’s delighted to make Livi return
Former Rangers keeper given permanent deal
Liam Kelly is back at Livingston after the former loanee made the switch from Rangers.
The 22- year- old was part of the Lions squad that won the League One title two seasons ago, making 40 appearances during his stint in West Lothian.
His success with Livi saw him being offered a new two-year deal with his parent club but the former Scotland under-21 stopper has been pushed down the pecking order at Ibrox following the arrival of Allan McGregor and has now completed a permanent move to Livingston as they continue their preparations for the Premiership.
The fee agreed between the two sides is undisclosed.
Kelly, who also had a loan spell at East Fife during his time at Rangers, said: “Coming back to Livingston gives me a chance to work in an environment that delivers and that’s something I just couldn’t turn down.
“I know the majority of the squad already from my previous spell and the chance to be a part of that changing room again was something I jumped at. Knowing the platform the staff give you to perform every week is a huge part of why I’m here and I can’t wait to get started.”
Courier Sport understands that the Lions are still keen to bring back veteran Neil Alexander as the likely first choice for next season.
Interim boss David Martindale said: “When the chance to sign Liam became a possibility, it was a nobrainer. Going into the Premiership, we need a very strong squad and competition for places in all departments.
“Liam in the past has shown he has all the attributes to play at the top level and I’m delighted he has chosen Livingston to continue his development.”
He added: “He’s a fantastic keeper and an exceptional professional and will add to the squad we are assembling here at the Tony Macaroni Arena.
“His influence on and off the park will be huge for us next season. On a personal note, I’m really looking forward to working with Liam again and helping in his development.”
