Whitburn’s Answe r Project is celebrating after receiving a £12,870 cash boost.

The grant from the Crerar Trust will allow Answer to employ a part-time caretaker to maintain the building, fixtures, fittings, equipment and grounds for the day care centre.

Crerar Hotels operate 12 hotels and inns across the UK and up to 50 per cent of the group’s distributable profits are donated to charities operating within areas where Crerar Hotels are based. The Trust, which is chaired by Paddy Crerar, has awarded £7million of grants to over 400 organisations over the past 16 years. This forms part of a commitment to re-invest in the communities in which the group’s hotels and inns are based.

Paddy Crerar, chairman of The Crerar Trust and chief executive of Crerar Hotels said: “We are delighted to have made this award to Answer Project in Whitburn and look forward to hearing how this funding helps impact their work.

“Crerar Hotels is committed to giving back to the local community to help it grow and thrive, and provide opportunities that may otherwise seem out of reach. For every stay our customers have with us they are supporting others, who really need it. It is great for folk in the hotels to see their hard work and efforts helping people in their own communities.”

Robert Cook, director of the Answer Project added: “Achieving this magnificent grant from The Crerar Trust enables us to maintain the building, contents and grounds of our day care centre over the next three years and will help to continue to provide this much needed respite facility to families in the west of West Lothian.”

The Answer House Day Care Centre provides respite to families for older people with dementia, and a range of mobility, mental health and physical disabilities, allowing carers to take a break.
