WCDDL season finales

-

The West Calder and District Darts League season came to an end after 24 league nights and 11 competitions as the Delegates and Champions of Champions were crowned.

The latter event saw the league’s finest battling against each other for the title. In the quarter-finals, there were wins for Scott Baker against Craig Forrest, Liam Corbett over William Millar, Gary Christie against Jamie Fleming and Davie Aitken, who got the better of Scott Cameron.

Baker progressed to the final at the expense of Corbett, with Aitken, the defending champion, being edged out by Christie.

And so to the grand final, where Baker sealed the victory in a terrific contest to ensure the Central Bar Rebels man had would have his name engraved on the trophy.

Next up was the Delegates Championship and once again there was a string of brilliant matches featuring the best players in the league all determined to win the title.

When the final dart was thrown and the chalk dust settled, it was Jim Mitchell of the Volunteer Highway Men who was celebrating at the expense of Kirknewton captain Rab Dick.

The success made it a remarkable dozen for Mitchell, who made it 12 Delegates singles titles, but Dick missed a double to grab the title himself - sometimes it can be on such fine margins that titles are won or lost.
