Gaynor Moffat would like to thank everyone who supported her daughter Romany and team Katie by attending the Tea Party held on the 1st July in the Black Bull. Also, thanks, to all those who baked and donated prizes; to all of team Katie who worked so hard and to the team at the black bull who have supported us all the way through and who were amazing on the day. She says it was truly overwhelmi­ng and a wonderful tribute to her mum Katie, who died earlier this year. The absolutely mind boggling £2700, was raised for Marie curie, Edinburgh and she is so proud of her daughter Romany for organising the event. Fundraisin­g will continue when team Katie run the Half Marathon in September. Mid Calder Colts 2003 Pre-season training has now started and the team is looking for some extra players to join their squad. Parents or carers of youngsters born in 2003, and interested in playing for the side, should contact Ross on 07388 016 710 or John on 07393 285 859. Blood donors are invited to come along to Mid Calder Primary School on Monday 23rd July between 4.30pm and 8pm to donate blood. Mid Calder Gala Committee are holding their AGM on Wednesday 5th September at 7.30pm in the Institute Hall. Open to all Mid Calder residents. Kirk of Calder Summer time has come round again and in the Kirk of Calder on Sundays in July and August there will be two services, a short half hour service at 9.30 am, followed by the more traditiona­l service at 10.30 am. The Friends of the Kirk of Calder will also open the church to visitors each Sunday afternoon from 2 - 4 pm.
