Adventure at The Centre

- Scotland’s first aerial adventure course has opened in Livingston. Marjorie Kerr

HiRide, which is suspended from the roof of a shopping mall, 13m from the ground and positioned directly above shoppers, is now open at The Centre.

It features a 15m zip track and various fun and challenging obstacles, including a swinging bridge and rolling log, spanning 100m.

The opening of HiRide by Aerial Adventures follows the launch earlier this month of HiClimb, a vertical climbing wall with 20 obstacles and three-dimensional objects across five routes, including climbing balls, cargo nets, rope ladders and vertical discs and HiFall, the UK’s first free-falling descender, where participants are hoisted up 12m into the air before being quickly but safely released to the ground.

The adventure activities in the mall are located in the Winter Garden, and also include a 600 sq ft, three-level soft play area for children up to 12 years old, with a separate area for babies and toddlers and an 80-seater café with an additional break out area and spectator seating.

Patrick Robbertze, centre director at The Centre, Livingston said: “Our new adventure activities including HiRide, which is the first of its kind, positioned directly above shoppers in a shopping mall, is a fantastic addition to the great offering we have at The Centre Livingston. “Visitors will now be able to enjoy a full day out, where they can shop, eat and play together.”

Mark Murray, managing director at Aerial Adventures, said: “We were absolutely delighted to be opening our exciting range of adventure activities including HiRide and HiClimb, marking the start of the school summer holidays.

“We’re expecting all of our activities to be a huge hit with locals and visitors from further afield looking for a great day out with the family trying out something new together.”
