Crafty kids can en­joy a sum­mer of cre­ative fun

A host of cre­ative ac­tiv­i­ties for chil­dren and per­for­mances for all the fam­ily are sched­uled for West Loth­ian’s How­den Park Cen­tre and Lin­lith­gow Burgh Halls this sum­mer.

Led by pro­fes­sional tu­tors, there are sev­eral ac­tiv­i­ties to choose from un­til Au­gust 3.

Colour Craft and Cre­ate will be a fun and ex­pres­sive week of ac­tiv­i­ties where you will be en­cour­aged to use your imag­i­na­tion, be in­spired by the theme of the day and use the ma­te­ri­als pro­vided to in­flu­ence the cre­ation of your mini works of art.

With em­pha­sis on the sum­mer, and the use of bright bold colours, and shapes you will leave the ses­sions feel­ing sunny, even if it’s rainy out­side.

Old clothes rec­om­mended, feel free to bring in CDs that you will en­joy lis­ten­ing to while you paint and build. It will take place at How­den Park Cen­tre from Mon­day, July 30, to Fri­day, Au­gust 3.

Ses­sions for chil­dren aged seven to 10 are from 9.30am to 12.30pm and for those aged 11 to 14 from 1pm to 4pm. Tick­ets are £53.

Comic Art classes will see kids learn the skills needed to be a comic book and graphic artist.

Learn how to cre­ate char­ac­ters, write sto­ries and make your ideas come to life like a pro.

It takes place at How­den Park Cen­tre from Mon­day, July 16, to Fri­day, July 20.

It’s suit­able for chil­dren aged eight to 12 and takes place from 10am to 4pm. Tick­ets are £98.

Un­der The Sea will see kids have fun and get crafty mak­ing cre­ations linked to the theme of the beach such as foil fish, wa­ter­colour fish bowls, sand­cas­tle sand art, sea life bunting, cof­fee fil­ter jel­ly­fish, painted rocks, fish from re­cy­cled CDs and an aquar­ium in a shoe box.

It will be held at Lin­lith­gow Burgh Halls from Mon­day, July 16, to Fri­day, July 20 and is for kids aged from seven to 10.

Ses­sions take place from 10am to 4pm. Tick­ets are £98.

Pop World will help young­sters learn ba­sic dance moves and singing tech­niques in this pop­u­lar class, led by pro­fes­sional tu­tors.

Chil­dren will in­for­mally per­form their work to fam­ily and friends in the theatre on Fri­day.

My Lit­tle Craft Shop al­lows kids to have lots of messy fun mak­ing a wide range of art and craft cre­ations, in­clud­ing per­son­alised items - painted stones, keyrings, cards, wrap­ping paper and gift bags.

It will also fea­ture mini mo­saic mir­rors and coast­ers and jew­ellery mak­ing.

It takes place at How­den Park Cen­tre from Mon­day, July 23, to Fri­day, July 27, from 1pm to 4pm.

It is suit­able for kids aged seven to 10. Tick­ets are £53.
