Miller happy with pre-season games Now he wants real thing

- Queen of Sth ......2 Livingston..........2

Callum Carson Livingston manager Kenny Miller was keen to focus on the positives despite seeing his side throw away a two- goal lead in Dumfries on Friday night.

The Lions found themselves in command thanks to goals from Nicky Cadden and Declan Gallagher. But they were pegged back through Gary Harkins and Lyndon Dykes as they had to settle for a draw.

The clash with Queen of the South came three days after a comprehensive 5- 1 victory in a closed- door clash at Lesser Hampden against Queen’s Park.

Cadden and Gallagher were also on the scoresheet in that match, with the winger netting twice, while Scott Robinson – who started up front – also found the back of the net twice for the Lions in their new manager’s first game in charge.

The player- manager said: “Tuesday against Queen’s Park was very good. The boys played well and we scored five goals, so there was plenty of positives to take from that for me.

“It was a really good work-out, and it was a hard work-out too, which was important. When we had a look at the GPS stats and other things, I was very pleased.

“Friday night down in Dumfries was much the same, again another very good work-out for us.

“It’s disappointing not to have won the game from being two goals up, to be honest, but it was good to get that little bit more game time for everyone.

“It’s pre-season and you’re making changes and trying new things and finding time for guys to get on the park so it can become a wee bit disjointed at times, but there were certainly more positives than negatives from the match.”

He added: “To be honest, I was a wee bit more disappointed right after the game than I was when I sat down and looked back at the footage. There was some really, really good stuff played and both goals were decent and I could see plenty of stuff in the game that we want to implement and be about this season.

“They were two very good games for us but I’m still a player and like the rest of the squad, I’m really looking forward to the first competitive game on Saturday.

“It’s been a good couple of weeks in training and the two friendly games but now we’re all wanting competitive football.”
