Parkinson group will meet at education centre
The next meeting of Parkinson’s UK in Scotland’s West Lothian Support Group will take placae next week.
The event will take place at 1pm on Wednesday (September 26) at Uphall Community Education Centre, Strathbrock Place.
The meeting is open to all who are affected by Parkinson’s.
As well as people who have been diagnosed with the condition this includes spouses, partners and other carers such as care and health professionals.
The guest at the meeting will be Penny Stone who will lead a singing session.
She has plenty of experience working with people with Parkinson’s as she leads a weekly singing session for Singing4Fun for Edinburgh Parkinson’s.
The Parkinson’s Carers Group provides a relaxed and informal setting for carers to get together and talk through whatever is on their minds.
Mutual support is one of the best ways of coping with feelings of isolation that are experienced by many who look after people with Parkinson’s.
After successful initial meetings at Uphall Community Education Centre sessions at various times of day are planned. For information on the carers’ group, contact Marysia Williamson on 01501 72510 or 07826 071 421 or email wlsupportgroup@aol.com
Support group members and carers can take three vouchers entitling them to one-hour therapy treatments including body massage and reiki.
The service is provided at home and the vouchers are valid up to and including December.
