A talented young dancer is following in the footsteps of his Strictly heroes by taking part in a kids’ version of the hit show.

Luca Cicero (5) was handpicked by judges at an audition in Glasgow for the final of the first ever Strictly Kids 2018, which will help to raise money for the STV Children’s Appeal.

Luca, who lives in Bathgate, auditioned with 300 other youngsters from around Scotland and wowed the judges with his performance. The Simpson Primary Pupil will appear in the show in December which will be broadcast live on STV. Proud mum Carolanne said: “Luca loves dancing but has never had any professional lessons. There are 46 kids from all over Scotland involved and as far as I am aware Luca is the only one from West Lothian. He is being given professional dance lessons, a choreographed routine and costume and he will perform at a glitzy final at the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow on December 9. The event has been organised by BlueStar Productions to raise money for the STV Childrens Appeal. Luca is now no longer ballroom dancing as his partner had to pull out of the competition so he will be opening the show with a solo routine.”

Carolanne continued: “Luca has a Just Giving page and his school, Simpsons Primary, are getting involved with a dance-a-thon that will be put on by the production company. The event itself is set to be an amazing experience as each child will be given the Strictly treatment before taking to the dance floor for their chance to win the Strictly Kids Glitterball. Alongside this amazing experience Luca has taken on the task of raising awareness and money for this wonderful charity.”
