A young West Lothian entrepreneur has been nominated for a top award.

Lauren Leisk ( 24) from Livingston has been announced as a finalist in the Young Scot Awards for their incredible and heroic achievements.

The Sunday Mail and Steven Brown Art Young Scot Awards 2018 will be one of the closing events of the Year of Young People 2018 and is set to be the biggest and best awards night in its 12-year history.

Lauren is nominated in the Enterprise category for her role as an ambitious entrepreneur who is creating innovative food solutions for people suffering from irritable bowel syndrome.

Suffering from IBS, Lauren used her own experience to set up Fodilicious an exclusive food manufacturing business providing convenient, healthy meal options following the low FODMAP diet.

The products are gluten-free, dairy-free, and cover a range of special dietary requirements.

The annual awards ceremony, hosted by Iain Stirling, will be held on November 30 and will celebrate the achievements and inspiring stories of young people and their peers.

Louise Macdonald, chief executive of Young Scot, said: “2018 has been a massive year for Scotland’s young people and we were inundated with inspiring stories about young Scots across the country. Lauren’s inspiring story shows how important young people are to Scotland and their incredible contributions to communities in West Lothian.

“A huge congratulations to all of the 2018 finalists.

“This year’s awards will be held on St Andrew’s Day and will be a historic moment for Scotland. We can’t wait to celebrate all the finalist’s achievements on the night.”

Brendan McGinty, editor of the Sunday Mail, said: “It is a privilege for this newspaper to help salute the achievements of our young heroes. The 2018 awards are set to be the climax of the Year of Young People and promise to be bigger and better than ever before. If anyone is in doubt that Scotland’s future is in safe hands, our 42 incredible finalists will reassure them.”
