Hard luck story again for Livingston

-

Livingston suffered a fourth straight league defeat as they went down 13-7 at home to Duns.

In what was another hard luck story for the Almond Park side, they passed up several chances to pick up their first victory since their win over Linlithgow on the first day of the season.

Ross Niven was stopped just short of the line in the early stages, while Dean Edwards knocked on when he appeared set to open the scoring.

Despite being camped inside the Duns 22 for the majority of the first half, Livi held only a narrow 7-5 lead at the break.

Ben Shearer picked up a loose ball and showed nifty footwork to evade tackles and score what would prove to be the only try of the game for Livi under the posts. Edwards added the conversion.

However, Duns answered back almost immediately before taking the lead in the early stages of the second half with try number two.

The fact that both conversions were missed mean the hosts trailed only by three points but, despite their best efforts, Livi were unable to further dent the scoreboard.

A Duns penalty in the closing minutes was the only other scoring in the remainder of the contest with Livi having to be content with a third losing bonus point of the season.

They go again on Saturday away from home at Portobello.
