Late show sinks Fulshie

- Stoneyburn ............. 2 Luncarty ................. 4

Stoneyburn were knocked out of the Scottish Junior Cup after an exciting clash against Luncarty.

The hosts took the lead through Ryan Robertson from the penalty spot and went into the break as the deserved leaders.

However, Luncarty levelled thanks to Robbie Millar just after the restart.

The Fulshie dragged themselves back in front when David Hendry netted but three goals in the final 12 minutes sent Luncarty through to round three.

A Richard Doig goal saw the game tied up once again before Millar got the winner with just five minutes to go while a superb volley from Kieran Donald sealed the win.

After a tight opening 40 minutes in which both teams passed up chances to take the lead, Robertson was fouled in the box before dusting himself off to send the keeper the wrong way.

That sparked Luncarty into action and they came out after the interval the better side. Within eight minutes, the scores were level as Millar rose the highest to nod Anthony Holt’s cross home off the bar.

Stoneyburn took the lead in bizarre fashion when a long ball over the top by Hendry was missed by Bruce with the ball trickling into the net.

Allan Ross impressed in the Fulshie goal but was beaten for a second time – again from a header – as Doig levelled with 12 minutes to go.

On 85 minutes, Luncarty struck the crucial blow as their creative force in the centre of the park, Millar, nodded his second of the game before Donald tried his luck moments later with a volley that flew into the net as the Fulshie bowed out. Calum Brown
