- Sean O’Neil

A West Lothian playgroup has been chosen as a winner of a national competition to improve their club.

First Steps Playgroup in Livingston has been chosen as a winner of the Sudocrem Play More Award and will receive play equipment to help improve their outdoor area.

First Steps Playgroup is one of 10 lucky winners chosen from almost 1000 nominations made by parents from across the UK who believed that their local nursery deserved to win support to help improve their playgrounds.

Rosemary Williamson, play group manager said “Winning a Play More Award is great news for our play group and we’d like to thank everyone who nominated us. The children can’t wait to get outside and enjoy the improved play area.”

This year’s winning nurseries will receive play equipment from Playforce, a n awa rd - w i n n i n g playground equipment designer.

Sudocrem’s Brand Manager, Alice Bamford, hopes that the Play More play equipment will help the winning nurseries encourage their children to get outside and play.

She said: “It’s fantastic to see parents rally around their local nurseries like First Steps Playgroup and support outdoor play. Playing outside is important and whilst children might scrape their knees and elbows, it is a vital part of a child’s learning and development process.

“We’ve been healing skin for generations and we’re proud to promote the spirit of adventure with Play More.”

Play More, now in its third year, was launched in May with the support of Chris Packham.

It is an initiative designed to encourage parents and children to get back in touch with nature and explore the greatest playground on earth - the outdoors.
