NEEDS YOU The last election of members to serve on Mid Calder Community Council took place in October 2017. Due to the high level of interest from local people wishing to get involved, the council must hold an interim election to give residents the opportunity to get involved. Community councils are consulted by West Lothian Council, NHS Lothian, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and other bodies on a wide variety of local issues. They are kept informed about liquor licensing and play a vital role as a statutory consultee on major planning applications. If you are interested in joining, all you have to do is complete a short nomination form. Your name and address must appear in the electoral register for the Mid Calder Community Council area. Nomination forms are available to download from www.westlothian.gov.uk/community councils, by telephoning 01506 281609 or emailing lorraine. mcgrorty@westlothian.gov.uk.
