Almost 50 riders from West Lothian Clarion made the short trip to Falkirk for the second round of the Scottish Cyclo-cross series.

Emelia Crombie flew the flag in the under-8 girls’race, coming in eighth position in her first cyclo-cross event.

In the boy’s category, Alex Richardson also finished eighth with Cameron Black in the middle of the field.

In the under-10s, Rhuairdh Fulton made up for a disappointing mechanical failure in the previous race as he was the top Clarion rider in the age group with a seventh place finish.

The older youth age groups saw impressive results and podium places. Katie Galloway was third place in the under-14 girls’race, with Andrew Turner also getting bronze in the under-16 boys’race.

The rain began to fall as the riders lined up for the men’s veteran and men’s junior races.

In the latter event, the club grabbed two of the top four places with Alex Ball coming home in second place and George Freeman two spots further back.

In the senior women’s race, Ailsa Curtis was in sixth spot, while Clair Brownie was still all smiles after completing her first cyclo-cross race despite a fall.

The men’s V40 race saw 10 Clarion club members complete the course amongst the field of more than 100 riders.
