New American football team recruiting

-

A new American football team has been formed in West Lothian - and they are looking for players as they aim to join the British American Football Association.

The Livingston Lightning, who train from 10am-12 on Sundays at King George V Park in Whitburn, already have 36 players signed up, but head coach Ben Stokes hopes to attract more players as they look to pick up the best talent in the area.

He said:“A lot of us were coaching or playing in Dunfermline and it got to the point where we really felt that we wanted to make a go of it ourselves and try to get a team set up in West Lothian.

“I’ve been involved with the Edinburgh Wolves and Heriot Watt University for about 10 years but there wasn’t a team in the area and a group of us thought it would be a good idea.”

He added:“We’d really like to be able to set up a youth programme, playing flag (non-contact) and having a pathway from youth all the way up to senior.

“We’ve got players signed up already of all sorts of shapes and sizes and with a wide range of playing experience. We also have coaches with plenty of experience, so we’ll be able to find the right fit for anyone who wants come along and get involved.”
