Festive fun at The Centre Shoppers scoop up gifts galore

- Debbie Hall

The festive spirit was definitely in the air at The Centre Livingston this week as thousands of shoppers descended on the mall to start their Christmas shopping, buying gifts not only for friends and family but little treats for themselves too.

And the Style Squad went down to check out some of the shopper’s top buys and see the fantastic decorations and beautiful tree in the mall, where kids can visit Santa’s grotto situated inside the tree, which is truly magical.

First up on our radar was Glasgow couple Jennifer and Chris Colford from Glasgow.

Jennifer works for a bank in Edinburgh and Chris for the Royal Mail in Clydebank and they regularly visit The Centre, especially at this time of year.

They bought a stunning black envelope bag from River Island for Jennifer’s sister which they know she’ll love and a pair of Old Skool Vans from Schuh for their son.

Jennifer said: “We regularly visit the mall and love it. It’s not as far as Edinburgh, great parking and there really is everything you need all under one roof with a great selection of shops to chose from and places to eat.”

Next up was air hostess Siobhan Toland from Paisley, just back from a flight from the Canaries, who was visiting the mall for a special day out with her mum Aileen – both buying gifts for each other and themselves.

Siobhan bought a stunning on-trend leopard print top for her Christmas night’s out from Quiz.

Siobhan said: “We love visiting The Centre in Livingston as it’s not only a great place to shop, but to eat out too.

“I also love their Christmas decorations which is another reason we make a point of coming at this time of year as it really gets you in the Christmas spirit of things.”

Next up was Cat King, a council worker with her husband and daughter enjoying a family day out doing a bit of shopping, eating out and for the little one, some fun playtime in Aerial Adventures soft play.

Cat couldn’t resist this beautiful flowery dress from Next for her little one, and a cosy, very trendy, pink fluffy gillet to keep her warm from H&M – making for a very cute Christmas outfit for her.

Cat said: “Having the mall on our doorstep is great as we really do like to shop, eat and play, all under one roof, regardless of the weather, which keeps everyone happy – especially the little one who loves the soft play. I couldn’t resist getting a few bit and pieces for her today.

“There’s so many great shops, it’s hard to resist buying for her.”

Last up was mum and dad from Forth, Fiona and Andrew Steele, with a shopping list in hand for things to get for family members and friends and a little something for Fiona too.

First on their shopping list was a cool New Era New York wool hat from Schuh for their grandson and two Mac lipsticks – one for their daughter and one as a well-earned treat for mum from Debenhams.

Fiona, who works at a cycling store in Livingston, said: “We both had a day off, so it was nice to spend it together doing a bit of Christmas shopping.

“There’s quite a few of us in the family so it’s good to start early and at The Centre as we know we can get everything we need and have a nice day out at the same time.”
