Chamber of Commerce awards

- Lorraine Howard

The best of the best came together at a black-tie dinner to celebrate business success at the luxurious Macdonald Houstoun House Hotel, Uphall on Friday, November 30, the evening was sponsored by Edinburgh Airport.

These awards celebrate the success and achievements of local businesses and the Chamber of Commerce continues to host the awards as we feel it is important that West Lothian is recognised for its business success and that it is highlighted as a region that holds unlimited potential for the future.

All businesses start small but with the determination of its people can grow to achieve great things.

This thought was expressed by Fraser Doherty MBE of Superjam, an international Scottish Brand, as he provided the keynote speech.

Fraser kindly shared his journey from starting his company at 14-years -old in his Gran’s Kitchen to having a Korean documentary made about his life, to creating a second brand Beer 52 all while touring the world providing motivational talks.

During his speech, Fraser highlighted that his journey wasn’t all smooth sailing with numerous rejections as he defined his brand.

This didn’t stop his determination for SuperJam to become a household name and he eventually received the ‘yes’ he was looking for to launch his product to the mainstream market.

Fraser’s journey and willingness to succeed can be reflected in the majority of our Winners and Highly Commended runner-ups at the 2018 Business Awards which highlights that not all businesses will have a smooth path to success, but the hard work put into the business will ultimately prevail.

This year’s winners represent true success and all over business excellence, making them prime examples of what makes West Lothian a true hub for business.
