Livi girls ease to victory

-

Livingston Rugby Club hosted the latest round of the Girls’Festival of Rugby at Almond Park on Sunday.

The Livingston under-18 girls took on a combined team from East Lothian and Tayside and romped to a fine 63-5 victory as they kept up their unbeaten run this season.

During a dominant display in the first half the girls fully demonstrated their developing skills and the hours of practice drills came to fruition as they raced out to a 49- 0 lead at half-time.

Good wing play saw a number of tries coming from Erin Steel and Hannah Ramsay.

The second half saw the East Lothian/ Tayside team determined not to allow a repeat of the first half as they put in a more spirited performance, being rewarded with a try of their own.

Early off-loads initially caused plenty of problems for Livingston before the home side regained the confident play they showed during the first half to eventually score further tries and seal the convincing win.

A delighted captain Emma Lumsden was full of praise for her Livingston team’s performance but was also keen to focus on East Lothian/Tayside’s spirited efforts in defeat.

She commented:“It is great to continue our unbeaten run. The final score does not really reflect the effort of the East Lothian team and all credit to them for sticking in to the final whistle.”
