STOCK CARS

-

Winchburgh racer Daniel Scrimgeour has had a busy off-season and is keen to get back on track with the first practice session of the new campaign taking place on Sunday, writes Jim Turner.

“I have refurbished my BriSCA RCE Formula II chassied stock car and have bought a new Lyndale 2 Litre Zetec engine, so all being well I should be ready for the practice.

“Last year I ended up with a transporter and it took time to alter it to provide a living area with space to carry the car in the back. As a result I was late starting last year but this season the plan is to travel quite a bit and I would love to qualify for the World Final.”

He added: “My aim is to take in as many of the Formula II qualifying rounds as I need to get onto one of the semi-final grids. It will not be easy but I will try.

“The Scottish Championship is one race that I would like to do well in and whilst I had a good grid draw last year I broke a half shaft on my way to line up and didn’t manage to start the race.

“Towards the end of last season we had the car set up and it was going well and I just missed out on a win at the last meeting of the season.

“Despite the changes we have had to make to the car for this season we have managed to keep the weights much the same so there should not be too many set up changes needed.

“One of our sponsors is David Philp Commercial at East Calder and we appreciate his assistance to keep us racing.”
