perfect start. He said: “It’s my first time going back and I’ll looking forward to it.

“There’s a lot of people still there that I know and have a lot of respect for. I had a great time at Falkirk, a really great time. They gave me my chance in management and I can’t thank the club enough for that but make no bones about it – I want to win.

“They’ll know that, of course, and we’re wanting to start with three points.”

The club returned to home soil last weekend following a week-long training camp in Budapest that included a draw against Slovakian outfit Sered and a 1- 0 loss to Hungarian top-flight side Paksi. The boss hailed the experience which sometimes involved training in the mid-30s.

He said: “It was a great week for everyone. It was very, very tough. We had the opportunity to do three sessions a day and the sun was beating down.

“It was a good experience and good to see the camaraderie of the group during it all as they were living in each other’s pockets.

“The games were a high standard and pretty physical, which was good, and then we had the game on Saturday in St Andrews against Tranmere which was a big test for us.

“You could see some of the guys were a bit leggy after a tough week but to get the 2-1 win and play some good stuff helps build for the season.”

It’s a much-changed Livi squad heading into the new season with six new arrivals and Holt says they’re unlikely to be done shopping yet.

He added: “We’re always actively looking for players. There’s still places to play for but we’re delighted with what he have so far.

“The guys know that the club is evolving and we’re trying to make it better every day in every aspect. If we weren’t trying to do that then we wouldn’t be doing our jobs properly.”
