Festival kids give it welly...

- DEBBIE HALL

Torrential downpours didn’t stop the party in Linlithgow when one of Scotland’s biggest music festivals came to town.

Party at the Palace was a sell-out again this year as crowds enjoyed headliners Deacon Blue and The Charlatans, along with Wet Wet Wet, KT Tunstall and Midge Ure. The weather didn’t dampen spirits as music fans enjoyed another fantastic weekend of entertainment for the whole family.

It was Wet Wet Wet at Party at the Palace at the weekend — but that didn’t stop festival-goers having a blast.

The band took to the stage at the popular event on Sunday as rain battered the festival site at Linlithgow Palace.

But the weather didn’t damped spirits as music fans enjoyed another fantastic weekend of entertainment – while thunder and lightning added to the excitement.

The Charlatans headlined the sell-out event on Saturday while Deacon Blue closed the show on Sunday.

Also taking to the stage were Midge Ure, Roachford, KT Tunstall and The Fun Lovin’ Criminals.

Everyone’s favourite pub landlord Al Murray entertained the audience with his band, Fat Cops, which also boasts members of the Bluebells and JK Rowling’s husband, Neil Murray.

And there was plenty of local talent on offer too.

Bathgate acts Luke La Volpe and Mike Sharp and the Bicycle Thieves appeared on the Yotel Breakthrough stage, as did musician Carly Connor.

Red Dwarf and Coronation Street star Craig Charles kept the party going with his DJ set and there was plenty of entertainment for the whole family.

The festival’s organisers thanked everyone who had made the event a spectacular success again this year, especially members of the 4th West Lothian Scouts who helped with the clean-up.

The organisers said: “The party is over but see you next year. Thank you Linlithgow.

“Every year the dedicated individuals work as a team to keep the site clean. We know you know how hard they all work. This year’s event was a really, really tough gig.

“To each and every one in the Scouts, thank you. It’s appreciated. You are the pride of Linlithgow.”
