Council has new head of housing

Ann Marie Carr has been appointed as West Lothian Council’s head of housing, customer and building services.

Ann Marie, who has been in the role on an interim basis since December, has responsibi­lity for the management and delivery of the council’s housing service, building service, and front-line customer services.

She has had a long career in local government, starting with Falkirk District Council in 1982 in internal audit then housing.

In 1989 she moved to West Lothian District Council and then to West Lothian Council.

Ann Marie began her studies whilst working in Falkirk and gained a postgradua­te diploma in housing from Stirling University in 1994.

Over the last 37 years she has gained extensive experience within the housing sector, from her days working as a frontline housing officer to her most recent post of senior manager for housing need.

The council’s chief executive Graham Hope said: “Ann Marie has tremendous experience within the housing sector, giving her a great understand­ing of the social housing landscape, and her leadership will be a real asset to West Lothian Council.

“The head of housing, customer and building services is a key role, covering many of the essential services that are crucial for the people of West Lothian.”

Ann Marie said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed as head of housing, customer and building services for West Lothian Council.

“I have worked in West Lothian for 30 years and know our services very well.

“I look forward to working with colleagues, partners, customers and tenants to ensure the delivery of high quality housing, customer and building services across West Lothian.”
