Building site traffic objection School celebrates as exam results soar
West Lothian Council has agreed to act to stop construction traffic using a narrow lane to access the Calderwood development site at East Calder.
Calderwood is one of the largest building sites in West Lothian.
Residents in Clifton Road near overshiel Farm in East Calder have complained about heavy lorries and earth-moving equipment using the road to access the stirling Developments part of the Calderwood development.
in a petition to the council, residents said:“it is unfair that residents must suffer heavy lorries and construction vehicles passing through constantly when there are so many other access points.”
the residents contend that the Clifton Road is not marked as an access to the building site.
one local man, paul Martin, told a meeting of West Lothian Council’s Executive the road was used by delivery lorries, JCbs, earth-movers and concrete mixers. He said:“it has been going on for 18 months now.”
planning officers said they were aware of the problems and would take action.
Councillor Damian timson said: “given the length of time this has been going on what kind of timescale are we looking at?”
He was told that the matter could be dealt with within weeks. Suzanne Young said: “We are delighted that the hard work of our students has paid off with a fantastic set of exam results for Inveralmond this year.
