LIVINGSTON ATHLETIC CLUB

Nine club athletes took part in the East District Cross Country League at the weekend with a number of impressive results, which were as follows:

Under- 11 boys: 48th Connor

Greenhorn (8.12).

Under- 13 girls: 2nd Mia Sokoluk (11.17).

Under-15 boys: 9th Logan Beagley (11.35), 18th Elliot Frame (12.16).

Under- 17 women: 1st Isla Calvert (12.15), 49th Zoe Dunn (15.01).

Under- 17 men: 1st Andrew McGill (20.49)

Senior women: 12th Katie Craig (24.55). Senior men: 197th Cameron Tweedie (40.51).

PARKRUN

Lothian Running Club claimed a male and female double at the Livingston parkrun on Saturday morning, and claimed five of the top eight overall places.

Euan McInnes took top spot in a time of 18.25, while Lana Turnbull was the first female runner to cross the finish line in 20.21. She placed eighth overall.

Euan Rennie ( 19.13) and Al Aitken (19.15) came fourth and fifth respective­ly while Alan Knowles was seventh in 19.46.

Livingston AC’s Judith Hargreaves recorded a new personal best of 23.58, which saw her place third female and 22nd overall.

LOTHIAN RUNNING CLUB

Another week meant another marathon Super-Vet title for the club’s Shona Young while her brother Paul also picked up a title on this occasion as well.

The LRC duo were taking part in the The Speyside Single Malt Marathon better known as ‘The Dramathon’ which is a marathon-distance race along the Speyside Way from Glenfarcla­s distillery to Glenfiddic­h distillery.

A total of 367 runners completed the race with Shona finishing an excellent 32nd overall, sixth female and first in the super-vet category with a time of 3:36.56. Paul crossed the line in 3:44.48 to place 48th overall and the leading male supervet.

Alan Roberston completed the club’s representa­tion in the race with his time of 4:43.28 seeing him finish 217th overall and fourth in the vintage-vet category.

A couple of club members tackled marathons on foreign fields with Neil Graham competing the Toronton Marathon in 4:01.46 and Stewart Harris finishing in the Amsterdam Marathon

in 4:21.57 despite picking up an injury during the race.

Meanwhile, the cross-country season is now underway and Saturday saw match one in the East District League at Stirling University.

The club were represente­d in the three junior boys’ age categories as well as both the senior men’s and women’s events. The results were as follows:

Under-11 boys (1600m): 20th Danny Fletcher (6.55), 49th Jay McGarry (8.18). Under-13 boys (3000m): 14th Aaron Smyth (10.53), 21st Jonathan Collings (11.15).

Under-15 boys (4000m): 27th Murray

Close (12.16).

Senior women (6000m): 34th Andrea Cameron ( 28.03), 49th Claire Harris (29.31).

Senior men ( 8000m): 93rd Sam McIntosh ( 35.55), 115th Craig Pirie (36.51), 123rd Jim Beattie (37.02),158th Brian Lees (38.54), 167th Kenton Jones (39.11), 203rd Dougie Hunter (41.11), 211th George Gilhooley (41.42), 244th John Robertson ( 44.46), 254th Jim Alexander (45.50).

Finally, despite having her season curtailed by injury, Hannah Steel still put enough points on the board to finish third in the Scottish Highland Games Associatio­n Youth Girls League for races over 400m and was presented with her award at the SHGA annual awards dinner in Glenrothes.
