A West Lothian community sport club have launched a fundraiser to support them through the next 10 years.

Broxburn United Sports Club are currently celebrating their 10th year.

And now they hope to raise £10,000 that would allow them to become self-sufficient and stop relying on national funders.

The club have estimated that it will need £ 10,000 to see them through this period.

So their idea is to get 100 people from within their local community to pledge a minimum of £100.

Broxburn United are inviting all interested parties to raise £100.

This can be done by holding fundraising events or by just making a donation and people can sign up as individuals, as a family or a team.

In return, all donors will be featured on the club’s social media pages and will also be invited to all the 10th birthday celebrations.

Broxburn United Sports Club (BUSC) was formed in 2008 as a charitable organisation.

The aim of the club is to help bring together the local communities of Broxburn, Uphall and surrounding areas.

In the 10 years since their inception, the club have taken on 700 members.

But the focus is not just on youth football, like many other community clubs.

The older generation also enjoy walking football and local man Archie Walker is still playing at 80 years of age.

Some of the other activities the club host in their local community include running a fun fitness programme in conjunction with the local schools.

They also bring children to the club for five-week sessions during the school year and provide work experience opportunities to local youngsters considering a career in sport.

The group also offer ladies outdoor fitness sessions every Monday evening.

The Broxburn chairman Jimmy Porteous was the first to pledge £100.

Anyone who would like to make a donation or who wants to find out more should visit www.busc.org.uk.
