LIVINGSTON ATHLETIC CLUB

Livingston Athletic Club siblings Sarah and Isla Calvert have both been named on the shortlist in their respective age groups for the Scottish Athletics Athlete of the Year award, set to be announced later this month.

Sarah is one of three athletes in the running for the under-20 award with Isla shortliste­d in the under-17 category.

Elsewhere, club members had a string of impressive results at various parkruns on Saturday morning.

Heather Bruce came second in her age category and set a new overall personal best with a time of 23.40 at Livingston.

In the same event, Alison Simpson came first in her age category with a time of 24.50 and Carol Moffat came second in her age category and set a new overall personal best with a time of 27.16.

At Polkemmet, Alan Morris led home the rest of the field with a time of 23.11 - finishing just ahead of team-mate Grant McLean (23.36).

Fraser Holman came fourth overall and first in his age category at his first ever run at Oriam with a time of 18.37.

LOTHIAN RUNNING CLUB

LRC had a total of 24 runners amongst the masses who took part in Sunday’s Edinburgh Men’s 10k.

The race starts in the Royal Mile and takes in many of the cities landmarks on route before finishing in the stadium at BT Murrayfiel­d.

There were top-20 finished for both Josh Dack and Ryan Kirkland while Scott Balfour was the leading over-70. Ross Williamson was third in the M45 category.

It was a busy week elsewhere for club members with Brian Lees being the leading over-50 in Sunday’s Run With The Wind 10k which was held at White Lee Windfarm, Eaglesham.

In a race that attracted 600 runners, Brian excelled to finish 30th overall and the leading over-50 male with a finishing time of 37.57.

Will Moffat also had a good run to place 41st in 38.35. In the women’s race Claire Harris came home in 36th place and 171st overall in a new personal time best of 45.12.

David Findlay had a busy weekend at the Auchterard­er Running Festival. On Saturday he completed the 10k in 1:07.38 then 24 hours later crossed the finish line in the Half Marathon in 2:33.13.

Jonathan Collings was the sole representa­tive from the Lothian club in the Lasswade Open Cross Country meeting at Gore Glen. He placed seventh of 31 finishers in the boys’ under-15 race.

A handful of LRC members contested the Tinto Hill Race at Biggar.

The route saw the runners cover 4.4 miles with a climb of 1500 feet. Club results were as follows: 27th Robbie Kennedy (38.13), 67th Colin Partridge ( 43.09), 105th & 10thF Christine MacVarish (46.43), 123rd Jim Alexander (49.35), 152nd Kevin Godfrey (53.03).
