Local hero Scott plays 200th game
role in helping the club to consecutive promotions and then a ninth place finish in last season’s Premiership, Livi’s first stint at the top table for a dozen years.
It has not quite gone how Pittman expected when he put pen to paper because even he admits he never saw himself playing in the top flight of Scottish football.
Speaking to the Courier, he said: “I obviously could never have expected to be playing Premiership football with Livingston five years down the line after signing from Bo’ness.
“It’s great to get to a milestone like 200 games and I would never have believed I’d be in this position but I’m glad it’s happened and I just want it to continue.
“I’ve tried to be consistent and work hard every day and see what happens.
“Both myself and the club are probably in a position where we never thought we’d be.”
He added: “It makes it more special that I’m a local lad, I think. Everyone always wants their local team to be doing well and being successful.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be part of it when it has been doing well over the past few seasons.”
Reaching the double century mark in appearances puts Pittman within touching distance of overtaking Liam Fox and becoming the club’s secondhighest appearance holder, with the current Hearts coach’s tally being 219.
With a contract in place until the summer of 2021, he says he is in no hurry to leave his home town club despite speculation every transfer window that he could be moving on to bigger and better things.
He added: “Hopefully there’s another 200 games at Livingston for me. I don’t see why not.
“I’m happy at Livingston. I’m playing most weeks. I stay 10 minutes from the stadium, I’ve got a family and I’m enjoying my football.
“It’s the perfect club for me.”
