TOWN CENTRE IMPROVEMENT FUND

The Community Education Centre Management Committee have been successful in gaining funding from the Scottish Government Town Centre Improvement Fund 2019/20.

Following a Village wide consultation, the items were agreed and the application submitted.

A big thank you to Damian Byrne for all his hard work and efforts in achieving this fantastic result for the Village. The projects planned are -

Play Park Upgrade. This will see the introduction of a 4 stage trim track on the grass consisting of monkey bars, parallel bars, a chin up bar and a climbing wall. There will also be bike parking, a ground level trampoline and a “quad flyer” which is a spinning pole with room for four kids. Spare parts are also included in the budget for future. Date to be confirmed.

A ramp to improve disabled access to the Bowling Green. Date to be confirmed.

Landscaping and planting of the traffic island at the school. This will blend in with the new memorial. This will be done and maintained by volunteers from the village so if anyone is interested in getting involved please get in touch with a member of the Hall Committee or the Gala Day committee. All welcome. Depends on planting / technical advice, most likely Spring 2020.

A picnic area on the north bank of the Almond close to the bridge. This will be a wheelchair / buggy friendly design with path and paved platform. Expected Spring 2020.

A Christmas Tree paved platform between the road and the kick pitch. This will have a sunken tree socket and the Hall Committee will provide a tree annually. It will also have benches and planters for use outside of the festive season so that it can be useful year round. Potentially for this Christmas! Fingers crossed.

A native tree and circular metal tree seat at the top of the Bing. This will provide 360 views of the surrounding area and a welcome rest for those exploring Seafield Law. This will also be carried out by a team of volunteers from the village so any help is welcome. Depending on planting advice – to be confirmed.

All projects must have an agreed plan / contract in place by 31st March 2020. Expectation would be for all to be complete by summer 2020 latest.
