Hannah Bardell

-

Hannah Bardell was elected in 2015 and 2017. She is standing again as the SNP candidate for Livingston.

She was born and raised in Craigshill and attended Broxburn Academy, before studying at the University of Stirling. As MP for Livingston she has worked hard to ensure her constituents are represented, and the voices of people she grew up alongside are heard in Westminster.

Since being elected she has spoken in the House of Commons more than 800 times and dealt with thousands of constituency enquiries.

She has held several frontbench roles, most recently Spokesperson for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport – fighting against the decision to stop free TV licenses for over-75s.

She set up the All Party Parliamentary Group on Deaths Abroad, Consular Services and Assistance after two families from Livingston were bereaved abroad.

The group has taken evidence from 60 families and recently published a 120 page report with 92 recommendations on how support for bereaved families can be improved.

She has supported local groups, including setting up a support hub with local volunteers after the closure of Kaiam and working with a local suicide prevention group. She continues to support WASPI women’s campaign for justice. She believes Scotland’s future should be in Scotland’s hands and it should not be taken out of Europe against its will. She will fight to protect the Scottish NHS from privatisation and trade deals with Donald Trump and American drug companies.

Vote for Hannah Bardell and the SNP to send a local lass back to Westminster to stand up for her community and her country.
