Livi beat Hibs to bag top spot

-

Livingston United came from two goals down to defeat Thornton Hibs 3-2 and climb to the top of the East Region South Superleague.

Goals from Connor Hogg, Tony Jaconelli and Jordan Bain helped to complete the turnaround for Andy Malone’s men at Station Park as the hosts jumped above their opponents and into top spot.

Elsewhere in the top flight there were commanding home wins for both Armadale Thistle and Whitburn.

The Jags beat Kennoway Star Hearts 6- 1. Two headed goals from Colin Leiper and Scott Dalziel put the home side firmly in control at two goals to the good at half-time before they stepped it up a further level after the break.

Liam Gray tapped home a rebound on 55 minutes before Dalziel made it 4-0 just two minutes later.

Liam Kane netted for the hosts before Star Hearts answered on 76 minutes but it was merely a consolation and Thistle added a sixth before the final whistle as Colin Allison finished off the rout.

The Burnie defeated Kennoway 4-1 last week and it was the same scoreline when they hosted Harthill Royal.

Reece Duncan fired the hosts in front before Martin Russell doubled their advantage five minutes before the break. There was still time for Royal to get on board in the first half, though, as Greg Ferrie calmly slotted beyond Dougie Horne.

A penalty from Russell and a further goal from Dewi Taylor made it a fine win for the hosts but left Harthill sitting on six points from their 11 games.

Fauldhouse United’s challenging run of form continued as goals from David Swan and Rees Smith in the second half saw them fall 2-0 away to Pumpherston.

Bathgate Thistle went down 2-1 away at Lochore Welfare with Robbie Feeney finding the net for Thistle.

In the South Premier League there was a huge win for Stoneyburn as they edged out Newburgh 3-1 to open up an eight-point lead at the top of the table.

Ryan Robertson, Aaron Gowans and Barry Craig got the goals for Allan Fleming’s side after they had falled a goal behind.

Grant Sneddon fired home a freekick with the last kick of the ball as Linlithgow Rose CFC won 3-2 away at Bo’ness United.

West Calder United are still without a point after falling to a 1-0 home loss to Sauchie.
