2020 vision as Lawson signs up for season

-

The Edinburgh Monarchs have completed their roster for the 2020 season.

The Armadale-based club have announced four signings which includes Scottish ace William Lawson returning alongside James Sarjeant.

The duo will be joined at the Armadale Stadium by Australian star Kye Thomson and Lasse Fredrikson of Norway.

Lawson (pictured) returned to the sport in the 2018 campaign following a long hiatus before getting a full season under his belt with the Monarchs last term and he is targeting success next season.

He said: “I’m delighted to be back next year.

“You need to get points all the way through and that’s what I’m hoping to bring to the team.

“I think I was averaging around five points a match towards the end of last season and that’s where I want to pick up from.”

Fauldhouse United defender Mark Daly has left the club to become manager of West Region side Wishaw Juniors with the Hoose in turn handing a player-coach role to Dean Richardson.

Daly is a fan favourite at Beltane Park and returns to the club where he will be assisted by Chris McGroarty and Glen Weir.

Meanwhile, Richardson will take up his new role at Park View and work alongside manager Jon Connolly and assistant David Dunn.

The weather was the main winner this week with just three games able to go ahead - and they were all defeats for West Lothian sides.

On Saturday, Linlithgow Rose CFC suffered a 4-1 loss at home to Syngenta in the East Region South Premier League while West Calder United remain without a point as their 4-0 defeat away to Bo’ness United Juniors made it 14 defeats from 14 league fixtures this campaign.

In the seniors on Tuesday night there was a shock Football Nation Qualifying Cup loss for Linlithgow Rose at home to East of Scotland Premier Division basement boys Whitehill Welfare.

Ross Allum fired the Rose into the lead before the break but the visitors took the game to extra-time.

Welfare took the lead on 106 minutes only for Tommy Coyne to level things up but there was still time for a late winner for Whitehill.
