-

Our friends at The Garage Whitburn are helping to make sure everyone has a great festive season by making sure our cars are in peak condition.

The award-winning mechanics are again offering another chance to win an MOT this week and also giving their five tips to keep your car reliable.

To ensure your festive car journeys are hasslefree it is very important to keep your car in very good condition.

A well-maintained car provides you with the reliability and peace of mind you need to enjoy your car to the fullest. Here are five easy-to-follow tips to keep your car’s reliability high.

First on the list is getting your car serviced on time.

Ian said:“There is no work around this. It is of utmost importance to keep your car serviced as per its maintenance schedule.

“For most cars the service interval is either every six months or 10,000km or one year or 10,000km. Check the user’s manual.

“Also make sure and check your battery’s health.

“The battery is one of the most underrated components of a car.

“If a battery fails, no matter how well maintained the car is, you may get stalled.

“It is extremely important to keep a check on the battery health. If there is some unexpected problem with the battery an orange warning light usually comes up in the instrument cluster, warning the driver about battery trouble.”

Ian said it is also important to check tyre pressure regularly, check coolant, windshield washer and engine oil levels as well as your spare tyre and toolkit.
