Lawson wants two wins – and a break

-

Steve Lawson is aiming for victories against Aberdeen and Hibs to make up for not getting his usual month off at Christmas.

The Togo internationalist told the Courier how he used to get a month off for the winter break when he played with Le Mont and Neuchâtel Xamax in the Swiss Challenge League – and he says he’s longing for a rest in January from his intense schedule.

He said: “In Switzerland you have time off after December 10 so you can spend Christmas with your family. But now it is different because we have matches on Boxing Day.

“My family are not here but it is okay, we are professionals and I knew when I came here I would not be spending Christmas with family.

“When I go away with the national team, the guys here have a two or three- week break but for me I do not have the time off. I have a week off to go back and see my family in Paris. My mum, dad, two brothers and sister will be there so I will stay with them.

“I hope we are going to get good results against Aberdeen and Hibs so we can enjoy the time off and come back in January and have a good season.”

Lawson has recently been moved to right back and has been a revelation for Livingston. His preferred position is centre of midfield but he is just happy to be playing football.

He said: “I play right back for the national team and I have played with my former club at right-back too, I can play in lots of positions.

“I have played right-wing, left, and I played fifteen minutes as a striker against Motherwell so I can play all the positions – except centre back.”
