Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will be looking to recapture the old magic; time travel will surely be back in the fold and cast newbies include Ready or Not’s Samara Weaving.

Top Gun: Maverick Released: July

This 34 years in the making sequel sees Tom Cruise’s cocky titular pilot take to the skies once again.

Val Kilmer joins Cruise in a comeback with Miles Teller, Jon Hamm and Jennifer Connelly rounding off an impressive looking ensemble; lets hope we still have the need for speed.

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham may have driven off to star in their own spin-off but the testosterone levels will be maintained with the addition of the former’s fellow wrestler-turned-actor John Cena.

Plot details remain tight-lipped but Charlize Theron’s Cipher is back to torment our heroes.

Released: March

The sequel to my favourite horror of 2018 once again sees John Krasinski direct his real-life wife Emily Blunt against noise-sensitive creatures.

It will be intriguing to see where the story progresses from the original’s seemingly definitive ending.

Black Widow Released: May

Scarlett Johansson’s heroine finally gets a solo movie which, following the dramatic events of Avengers: Endgame, can only be a prequel.

Stranger Things’David Harbour, playing Red Guardian, will hope for better comic book movie fare after 2019 flop Hellboy and Florence Pugh continues her ascent up the Hollywood ladder.

Released: June

Gal Gadot travels from the trenches of World War I to a world of leg warmers and perms in the 80s for the return of the character the DCEU has arguably nailed best thus far.

Whether this can live up to its predecessor – and offer an adequate explanation for Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor’s return – remains to be seen.
