LIVINGSTON ATHLETIC CLUB

Club member Andrew McGill has been selected to represent Scotland under-17 at the Celtic XC event later this month.

The competitio­n, which takes place in Stirling, will see Scotland take on teams from Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Four club athletes took part in last week’s Festive Handicap 2019. Stephen Marshall led the Livi runners home in 36th place with a run time of 39.13 and handicappe­d time of 1:24.08.

Andrew McGill (25.32; 1:26.27) was 61st with Steven Thomson (1:08.40; 1:26.35) three places further back.

Alistair Marshall completed the Livingston AC quartet with a run time of 27.05 and handicappe­d time of 1:27.00 which saw him come home in 69th place.

In parkrun events, there was a string of impressive performanc­es.

Lucy Boules marked her first ever parkrun with an age category victory in Aviemore with a her time of 33.18.

Shannon Prevost also came first in her age category at Livingston with a time of 23.45 while Kerry Small set a new personal best with a time of 31.44.

At Polkemmet Country, Fraser Holman came first overall in the entire run at his first run tackling that course with a time of 18:30 with Alan Morris came first in his age category with a time of 23.22.

Kirsten Morris set a new personal best as well as coming second in her age group with a time of 32.13.

LOTHIAN RUNNING CLUB

Lothian Running Club members brought the curtain down on another year of competitio­n by coming away with a clutch of prizes from the Tilli 10k at Tillicoult­ry, writes Shane Fenton.

The club had 28 runners among a big field of 380 starters and picked up prizes in both the male and female age categories.

The race, organised by the Pan Handle Racing Club, sees the runners traverse a route along the Hillfoots following the Devon Way from Tillicoult­ry to Dollar and back.

In the female section there were third places for both Andrea Cameron and Andrea Seabrook in the F40 and F45 categories respective­ly with Elizabeth Rennie runner-up in the over-55 agegroup.

Also claiming a runner- up spot was Kara Moffat in the female junior classifica­tion.

There were podium prizes of all three colours in the men’s section for LRC members. Ryan Kirkland excelled to be the leading male junior. Brian Lees was second male over -45 finisher with Al Aitken third in the M40 category.

The leading overall LRC male and female finishers were Ryan Kirkland in 20th place with Jo Williams 55th overall and seventh female.
