Susan set for Glasgow

- DEBBIE HALL

West Lothian singing sensation Susan Boyle has revealed going back to the Glasgow venue where her life changed will be“surreal”.

The Blackburn star’s stunning debut at the SEC Armadillo was witnessed by millions of TV viewers in April 2009 on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.

It was that appearance that blew away judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden and led to her becoming a household name.

Susan, then aged 47, sang‘I Dreamed a Dream’from‘Les Miserables’, turning her into a star overnight.

The singing sensation said her life has been a“rollercoaster”since finishing runner up on‘Britain’s Got Talent’.

And she said she is looking forward to her solo show in March.

She added:“It will seem very surreal to be on that stage, the place where it all began.”

Susan recalled being very nervous when it came time to audition in front of the judging panel.

The 58 year old, explained that what started as a chance to sing for fun in the competition ended in her amazing rise to fame.

She added:“I didn’t know what to expect, but I went on for a good time and a good giggle.

“And the good giggle has turned into something very nice, so there you go.”

She said her life since has been “unbelievable, a giant rollercoaster.”

So far, there have been eight bestselling albums, singing for two popes, and meeting many musical idols.

But Susan, who has been diagnosed with Asperger’s, has learned to cope with her extraordinary lifestyle.

She said it was a big adjustment but is now enjoying her adventure.

Susan added:“It felt like I was in the epicentre of a huge whirlpool at first but you reach a stage where you can handle it.

“Everything is no longer so frightening.”
