Put your pjs on and help CAMHS

-

Chloe Walker, from Blackburn, is studying social work at the university but in her spare time raises money for mental health wards in hospitals.

Brave Chloe once suffered from anorexia and having recovered now wants to champion early intervention and help lighten the financial burden the mental health services face. She previously raised £850 for the Regional Eating Disorders Unit in St John’s Hospital, after they helped her own recovery, and now wants to help improve waiting times to get patients the help they need straight away at The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).

Chloe said: “CAMHS do amazing work in supporting our youth through difficult times but they are severely underfunded at the moment and this is why I have chosen to raise money for this particular charity.

“I am very passionate about early intervention when it comes to mental health and the waiting list for treatment is often very long. In order for the best chance to recover from a mental illness it is important to address any concerns straight away.

“As someone who has recovered from anorexia, I cannot stress how important it is to treat someone early and in cases like mine, it can be a case of life and death.”

The pyjama party is at Edinburgh University within the Potterow venue on February 19 between 9pm and 2am.

There will be a bouncy castle, face-paint artists, raffle, karaoke, DJ and pop-up photo booth. Both students and non-students are welcome to go along. Tickets will be £5. For more information visit: https:// www. facebook. com/ events/504465873594515/
