LIVINGSTON ATHLETIC CLUB

The club’s under-17 men’s 4x200m relay team put in a tremendous performanc­e as they finished fifth in the National Indoor Relay Championsh­ip finals on Saturday, held at the Muller Glasgow Indoor Grand

Prix.

The team ran 1:38.58 which was almost half a second faster than their heat time two weeks ago.

Elsewhere, a number of club members put in great performanc­es across parkrun events on Saturday morning.

Andrew McGill came second in his age category and third male in his first run at Edinburgh with a time of 16.20, while Alison Simpson came first in her age category in her first run at Troon with a time of 24.56.

Karen Lyn Dickson came first in her age category in her first run at Queen’s Glasgow with a time of 26.34.

Closer to home, at Livingston, Euan MacIver came third in his age category and set a new overall personal best with a time of 20.47. Zoe Dunn came first in her age category with a time of 23.26 while Judith Hargreaves also came first in her age category with a time of 24.49.

Hazel Ross came second in her age category with a time of 25.37. Carol Moffat came second in her age category at Polkemmet Country with a time of 27.57.

LOTHIAN RUNNING CLUB

The club were once again well represente­d in the 5k parkruns on Saturday morning. They had 44 runners amongst the 352 who took part in the local Livingston parkrun and had a good day with no few fewer than 10 age category first finishers.

Ryan Kirkland ( 17.43 PB) and Alan Knowles (18.27) finished in second and third positions overall behind former LRC member Malcolm Lang (16.58) who represents Corstorphi­ne. Ryan was the leading junior male 15-17 years with Alan first male over-45.

Mhairi Inglis, who finished 12th overall, was the leading female finisher for the third week in succession with her time of 20.57 exactly the same as the previous week.

The evergreen Ian Leggett (40.02) was the top over-80 while at the other end of the age scale LRC had the top finishers in both the JM10 and JW10 age group.

In the latter, Amber Cunningham ( 27.48) and Gaby O’Donnell ( 27.49) crossed the line almost in unison to be leading girls with Danny Fletcher (22.08) in an excellent 26th overall the top boy.

Another JW10, Rachel Collings, ran a new PB of 28.10.

Dougie Hunter (20.48) excelled to finish 11th and category first finisher in the M55 group .

The Lothian club also had both the top finishers in the over-60 age group by virtue of Russell Rennie (24.14) and Liz Bondi (25.20). In the next group up Valerie Finch was the the leading F65.

Meanwhile, Craig Anderson reached a parkrun milestone as he chalked up his 150th run in the Bushy parkrun at Teddington in London.

A staggering 1295 runners took part with Craig finishing 127th in 21.44.

Elsewhere, Shona Young (23.44) was first female at the Polkemmet Country parkrun with Julie Atkinson ( 21.40) occupying the same position at the Ruchill parkrun in Glasgow.

LRC were also represente­d at the parkriuns in Edinburgh, Strathclyd­e, St Andrews, Portobello, Dunfermlin­e, Stirling University and Oriam.

Six club members battled against the Storm Dennis to take part in the Carnethy 5 Hill Race at Silverburn nr Penicuik.

Their results were: 125th Colin Partridge ( 1: 12.43), 293rd & 10th F50 Christine MacVarish ( 1.27.33), 341st Kevin Godfrey ( 1: 31.34), 447th Jim Alexander (1:48.37), 462nd & 3rd M70 Ewart Scott (1:52.25), 495th & 128th F Kirsty Gray (2:05.48).
