Singer to start new tour in venue that made her famous

- John-Paul Clark

West lothian superstar Susan Boyle is excited to be returning to the Glasgow auditorium where her career was launched.

The Blackburn singer first appeared on our screens at the‘Britain’s Got Talent’ auditions in august 2008 and now, 12 years later, she is due to return to the venue as part of her latest tour.

looking back on the day that changed her life, Susan said: “at 6.30am, I was getting dressed. What the heck was that dress I had on? That’s the one thing I regret, the dress, the tights and the white shoes. I would have liked to have been a bit more dressed.

“It took me two or three buses just to get there. I was called for 9.30am. By the time I got there it was the back of 10. They said just to wait. I did think I’d missed my chance but they were good to me. The reaction of the audience spoke for itself, I was shocked but I was pleased.”

The upcoming tour is promoting Susan’s latest album,‘Ten’, released last year to mark the decade since she released her first album and the West lothian singer is promising fans a surprise or two.

She said:“The fans will see something different, a bit more dancing, some shorter skirts as well. So there will be a bit more leg.”

Susan still lives in the former council house where she grew up – although she also owns the property next door and a bigger house nearby.

She says that the most expensive thing she has bought is a bike:“It cost an arm and a leg. and I still can’t go it without stabilisers.”

Susan is learning to drive and says she fancies driving around the back roads of West lothian in a silver Jaguar convertible. She also bought a piano and is taking lessons.

Meeting the Pope last year is the one moment that stands out. She has sung for the Queen and with Donny osmond, but being at home is where she is most comfortable and she definitely isn’t planning on moving to america, like many of her peers. She said: “I will work in the US but never live there. It’s not that I don’t like them but I’m a Scottish lassie.”

The‘Ten’tour has eight dates across the uk, starting at the usher hall in Edinburgh on Sunday and ending at the Palace Theatre in Manchester on March 11, with Susan performing at the SEC armadillo in Glasgow on Wednesday, March 4.
