It’s party time at The Larder
Local charity and social enterprise The Larder West Lothian (The Larder) is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year by hosting a celebratory showcase event on Wednesday, May 27 in partnership with MacDonald Houstoun House Hotel.
The Larder supports the most disadvantaged to reach their full potential and be all that they can be by using food as a tool of engagement.
In the last year they supported over 230 young people by helping them build their confidence, develop skills, gain qualifications (often for the first time) and move closer to or into work.
They deliver training in schools, at their bespoke training centre in Bellsquarry and their training cafes in Armadale, Fauldhouse and Broxburn.
All profit from trading activity is used to support pp more young people each h year.
The Larder also runs the Food for All project that is now expanding and relaunching in June 2020 as Catalyst Kitchen.
This project offers weekly dining experiences s for individuals and d families who have been impacted by welfare reform, are on low incomes and who are experiencing food insecurity.
These dining experiences provide access to high quality nutritious meals with food sourced from local supermarkets and Fare Share.
Emma Hamilton, Office Manager at The Larder said: “This is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our inspirational young people and get together with partners and supporters.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Houstoun House Hotel who have kindly sponsored the event by providing the venue and kitchen space free of charge and giving their staff team time to support us.”
Andrew Boe, General Manager at Houstoun House Hotel said:“Macdonald
