her category at Ministox before she recently decided to move onto an ORCi Stock Rod.

She explained: “It is going to be a learning year for me in the Stock Rods, which is a non-contact formula. It will be a big ask in my debut season but I will give it my best shot. We have bought a Corsa C that we are busy working on. I will be the only female on the grid”

Her last season racing classic Minis was triumphant and her achievements included winning the National Championships and being awarded drivers’ driver for the year for 2019.

She continued: “I found the car very competitive, although it was a bit stressful at times trying to fit the racing in with my studies. I also had problems with my shoulder, which popped out from time to time, as well as a slipped disc. I won the National Championship, the Easter Challenge, the Brenda Williams and the Sye Morrison Memorial trophies, as well as the Racewall National and Track Points Championship and was delighted to be voted as the drivers’ driver of 2019!

“Racing in t h e Nat i o n a l Championship was very nerve wracking. In the final laps I was sitting in second place behind Aaron Richards.

“Previous races in the top positions with him made me determined I wasn’t going to pass him until the crucial moment and I waited for that moment.

Coming out of the last corner on the last lap he went slightly wide and I took my opportunity and with a chap in the right place on his back bumper, I snuck up his inside and took the chequered flag. I was screaming with joy crossing the line knowing I had beaten the boys. I drove to where my family and friends were and got onmy roof to celebrate.”

Ryan is entering into his last season in Ministox and hoping for better luck in the second half of the year.

He continued: “The first half of last season was really good and I picked up a lot of good places. The amount of points I picked up saw me move up to the star grade and my first race from there was at the Racewall summer speedweekend. I did well in the heats but in the final I went wide and got clipped by Rian Mitchell and struggled to get back onto the racing line. I ended up hitting the wall hard and that was that!

“The RGM Thistle Trophy race was another wet one. I was running the high line which is as close to the wall as you can get. If you go in too hard the car bounces off the wall but usually keeps going! I did it once too often and got spun!

“The Scrutineers Trophy, I got off to a good start and built up a big lead but I could see Mitch Gold closing. I managed to keep him behind me until the last lap when he got inside of me on the last bend and just beat me to the finish line.

“I went down to Hednesford in April and it started to rain half way through. A car spun in front of me and I crashed into him hard. The car suffered a lot of damage but I managed to restart and finish the race. The damage was too much to repair at the track so that was my meeting over.”
