COUPLE ARE PLANNING A TREAT

-

A big-hearted couple have started a fundraising campaign to treat elderly care home residents once lockdown is lifted.

David and Lynn Thomson want to raise £500 so they can put a smile on the faces of people who have been isolated in care homes unable to see their families since the middle of March.

They both work for the NHS and are hoping people will get behind their campaign.

The couple live in Stoneyburn with daughters Shannon (24), Charley (12) and Billie (10) and son Kyle (7).

Lynn has been a domestic for nearly 15 years and David has delivered laundry for seven years.

They have set up a Crowdfunding page wich has so far raised £200.

The couple said:“As we all know, times are tough at the moment with Covid-19 and particularly tough for our elderly care home residents.

“Since the lockdown began our care home residents have been forced into isolation to protect them from this awful disease.

“This means they have not been able to have any visits from family and friends which must be having a terrible effect on their wellbeing.

“We are setting this page up in the hope that as a community we can come together and raise lots of money so that when this is over we will be able to provide our elderly care home residents with some kind of a treat , like a small party or maybe a special lunch or tea.

“We will be looking for other ideas and suggestions from anybody who is willing to help nearer the time.

“Hopefully if this page is a success,we would be looking to spread a bit of happiness into all care homes in West Lothian.

“For this to be a success it’s important that it reaches out to as many people businesses and organizations as possible.”
