Polbeth on parade to defy Covid

-

Gala days may have been cancelled across West Lothian but the people of Polbeth held a small parade to mark what should have been their annual celebration.

With the help of Polbeth United Football Club and Mummy Bear’s Goodies, the gala committee arranged the event, distributing sweets along the procession’s usual route.

Piper Michael Gallacher and this year’s queen Carrie MacKerracher made an appearance.

And staff from the local Scotmid got into the spirit of the event by dressing up.

Gala vice- president Gina Smith said: “We would also like to thank all the people who came out to the route to take part and all the households who put up their flags.

“This should have been our 75th anniversary so we were a bit downhearted that we had to cancel but we will be back with a bigger and best day ever next year.”
