New boss Chris Townsley continued his preparations for the new campaign with the signing of attacking midfielder Liam Ireland from Lowland League outfit Vale of Leithen.

Ireland becomes the fifth new arrival at Albyn Park following the captures of former Whitburn duo Gary Brass and Greg Nicol along with midfielder David Greenhill and striker Jordan Hopkinson.

Townsley praised the new arrival, saying: “We are really pleased to finally have Liam at the club. He has been on our radar since the beginning of last season so its great to have him signed up.

“Liam really fits the mould for us as a technical, and athletic, player. He will add creativity, and an attacking quality to our midfield.”
