NHS takes pride of place on club’s new jerseys

every kit we ordered they would make a donation to the NHS, which we would then match.

“For every strip we order £1.66 goes to the NHS. So far we have ordered 180 strips and will be ordering another 200 more.

“It is not really about the money, though, it is more about the awareness. It’s not really a lot of cash but what we are hoping is that if more clubs can be inspired and do something similar then that would create scope to raise more money.

“At the moment we just wanted to show solidarity with the NHS. We have parents and families who work with the NHS, or as carers, so it is a good example to set.”

The idea for the NHS was not the original idea they had for their strips. The club had been in talks with Football Nation to do something on mental health awareness but when the coronavirus struck the NHS took priority.

Supporting mental health awareness is something they will be looking to follow up in the very near future.

Davie continued:“Initially we were looking at mental health awareness and having the Be Kind logo on the kids strips and Be Strong on the adult jerseys.

“But we will be picking this up again, and have decided that the mental health logos will go on the training kits.

“We have so many kids here and we just feel like we have a duty of care for their wellbeing.

“Since Robbie and I got involved at the club things are really beginning to move on. We have big aspirations and already have taken it from just four teams to the 15 we have now.

“Before Covid-19 struck we were due to have a new 3G pitch installed and were bringing in a girls team but we will just have to wait for the moment.

“We are in a good position for the future and that wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the strong committee that we have behind us.“
