Council services to re-open

- STUART SOMMERVILLE

West Lothian Council has announced that a number of council services and community activities will resume in the near future following an update from Scottish Government.

This means that activities and services available in community centres, village halls and partnership centres, in line with the governments route map will return on a phased basis from this week until the end of September.

Executive councillor for culture and leisure Dave King said:“Our teams have already completed preparatory work over the last few months within some buildings and will now put in place the updated guidance across all buildings to make sure we are operationally ready, and that all venues are safe to re-open for the new normal.

“We have to make any final building alterations to ensure safety is maximised for staff and customers. However over the next few weeks partners/organisations, management committees and groups will be informed directly on return dates for specific activities and facilities.

“We appreciate the patience that has been shown by all our customers to this point.”

The council is advising partners/ organisations not to promote the return of their services on a specific date with their customers/users until after the council has confirmed their return date.

The council has stressed that this change is conditional on continued progress in suppressing the virus and visitors will have to adhere to the guidance provided. Customers will be advised should there be any changes to the above plans set out.
