New home care plans now on offer in area
Personalised at home care plans tailored around an individual’s needs in West Lothian are now being offered by a housing provider.
Bield operates the ‘ Bield at Home’ service to help older people requiring personal care, social support or domestic assistance to allow them to continue living as independently as possible in their own home.
The service runs between 7.30am and 9.30pm every day, with an emergency response service available, for over 60s in the Linlithgow area.
Bield at Home work closely with the individual, their families and auxiliary care staff to create a bespoke plan around their needs.
Lorna Smith, Bield area manager, said: “Our Bield at Home team is made up of 10 dedicated staff members who have all been approved by the Scottish Social Services Council and undergone intense training.
“The team provide holistic care and ensure all decisions are made mutually, in a way that can be adapted as the individuals needs change. The service is designed to suit all users, whether you are looking for help with household tasks or providing companionship, our tailored plans guarantee the individual will be taken care of in a way that suits their lifestyle. Our staff are adept to changes Covid-19 has brought and our approach has been altered consequently to ensure we are in line with the ever-changing regulations, as the health and safety of the individuals using our service and our staff is paramount.”
During lockdown the Bield at Home team transformed the support provided for a number of individuals and worked with families tirelessly to provide the best service possible. Bield at Home aim to improve the quality of life of older people by offering a diverse range of services. The service caters for those living within Bield’s West Port and Brae Court establishments, as well as offering support to those who live within a half-mile radius of the housing developments.
